CD Model and Services at Pinewood

Concurrent Disorders Model and Services at Pinewood Centre

Pinewood Centre is an active member of community and regional initiatives to enhance coordination of services for individuals with concurrent disorders. The services offered by Pinewood Centre are often provided in addition to individuals receiving support from other community agencies or services focused on mental health.

Pinewood Centre adheres to the goal of developing a model of Concurrent Disorder service delivery that is consistent with the Comprehensive, Continuous, Integrated System of Care (CCISC model). (Minkoff, K & Cline, C. 2004)

This model of care supports service for concurrent disorders at all levels of the system by effective use of resources, use of evidence-based "best practices" and an integrated treatment philosophy.

Pinewood Centre utilizes a Quadrant Model to assess treatment need and service provision. This model addresses the fact that all levels of the health care system are involved in the care of individuals with CD and extends the scope of services to include both those with most severe concerns and those with mild to moderate concerns. (see below)

Consultation, Collaboration, and Integration

You will see these words in the Quadrant Model above and you will also hear them in our services. It is most helpful when treatment can be a consultative process, not only with our clients, but with the other care providers and supportive individuals in their lives. We encourage clients to provide consent to allow for communication between these support systems to enhance the services that are provided. For individuals with more moderate to severe concerns, more formal collaborative treatment plans may be developed and clients often also benefit from integrated services that are provided through the combined Mental Health and Pinewood Centre programs and also through Pinewood Centre and other outside organizations.
