Back on Track Impaired Driving Program

Pinewood Centre is the designated provider of Back on Track services for Durham Region. Back on Track is Ontario's Remedial Measures Program for people who have been convicted of an impaired driving offense. Completing all requirements of Back on Track is one step toward license re-instatement.

A person's first contact should be with the Back on Track office, at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. They provide registration, payment and other administrative services.

They can be reached at 1-888-814-5831 or on the Internet at www.remedial.net.

The person then contacts Pinewood Centre (905-723-8195 ext 211) to discuss the components of Back on Track, and schedule an Assessment.

The Back on Track program consists of three parts:

  1. an initial one hour assessment.

  2. based on the assessment findings, participants will be assigned to either an eight hour education group or a sixteen hour treatment group.

  3. six months after completing the group, participants must complete a follow-up interview.

All three parts must be completed before a person's license can be reinstated. The process may take more than 10 months to complete so participants are urged to register soon after their conviction.
