Mental Health Day Treatment

The Mental Health Day Treatment Program at Lakeridge Health provides assessment and group treatment to medically stable adults, aged 18-65 who have experienced significant disruptions in their social, occupational, and familial relationships due to psychological and emotional difficulties.

The program extends over a period of 6-9 weeks beginning with a transition from the psychiatric inpatient unit or the crisis intervention team. An orientation/assessment process helps to determine how our group based program can best address the client’s problems. This is followed by an intensive group treatment program and concludes with a transition/discharge process. Treatment is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, occupational therapists, social workers and psychologists. Therapeutic groups explore such themes as interpersonal relationships, anxiety and stress management, depression management, communication and self-esteem. Follow-up is provided by adult outpatient services.
