Methadone

During the summer of 2006 Pinewood Centre introduced methadone case management as a new service. This program strives to meet the individual needs of people with opioid dependence (pain killers such as codeine, percocet and oxycodone). This specialized program offers case management services for clients that identify opioid dependence, need help for accessing methadone maintenance treatment, or are enrolled in methadone maintenance treatment already.

Pinewood Centre promotes a client focused approach to treatment by using a harm reduction philosophy, stages of change model and motivational interviewing techniques. Methadone case management is flexible and accessible; provides a comprehensive assessment and engages clients in developing treatment goals; we work closely with clients' families; we advocate for clients and address issues related to stigma; we link clients to other community services; we identify and address the barriers to treatment; we closely monitor clients' goals in treatment; we focus on clients' strengths and needs.
