| Umbrella's Program Pregnant Women |
In the Fall of 2002 Pinewood Centre introduced the Umbrellas Program (formerly known as the Early Years Program). The Umbrellas program offers support services especially for women who are pregnant or parenting child(ren) 0-6 months and who have concerns about their use of drugs or alcohol. Service is available at all Pinewood locations and women are encouraged to identify pregnancy/parenting when making a referral.
The Umbrellas program offers women centered care based on harm reduction principles and other best practices research. A menu of treatment options are available to meet individual needs and women will be fast tracked into community and residential programs. Counselors are able to offered heightened case management and advocacy and financial assistance is available for transportation and childcare to help women access services.
During pregnancy, it is safest to avoid drugs and alcohol. Every time you do not use, you give your baby a healthier start to life. If you are pregnant/parenting a newborn and involved with alcohol or drugs you may be feeling:
Worried about your health and the health of your baby
Alone
Scared
Overwhelmed
Out of control
We recognize that women may use drugs or alcohol to cope with difficult life situations (poverty, childhood trauma, abuse, mental health issues etc). We understand that it can be difficult to reduce or stop using without support. LET'S TALK.
The Umbrellas program is a regional partnership of addiction service agencies and is funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Our collaborative partners are Simcoe Outreach Services (SOS), Addiction Services for York Region and Four Counties Addiction Services Team Inc. (FourCAST)
